His Bright eyed and bushy tailed, with a face that always seems to be smiling, the Shetland Sheepdog, has long been a family favorite pet. Not a Miniature Collie but his own distinctive breed, the Sheltie is loyal, funny, and smart.
He is also a barker.Their gait is smooth, effortless, and ground covering, imparting good agility, speed, and endurance essential in a herding dog.

SHETLAND DOG
Shetlie dog breed stood guard for farmers in the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland, keeping hungry birds and sheep out of the farmer’s garden. They served as herding dogs as well. Sheltie pet is a small, agile dog, longer than they are tall. Shelties pet bear a strong family resemblance to their bigger cousin, the Collie. Today they’re excellent family companions and superstars in dog breed sports.

- The Shetlie Sheep dog is often extremely bright, extremely sensitive, and extremely willing to please.
- This combination makes for a dog that can be very amenable, quick to learn, and also devoted to their family.
- They are not only gentle, playful, amiable, and companionable, but also can usually get along well with children, although they may nip at heels in play.
- Sheltie can be reserved and also often timid toward strangers.
- They tend to bark a lot.
- The Sheltie is energetic, but their exercise needs can be met with a good walk, short jog, or active game and training session.
