The crisply coated Scottish deerhound, “Royal Dog of Scotland,” is a majestically large coursing hound struck from the ancient Greyhound template. Among the tallest of dog breeds, the Deerhound were dog breeds to stalk the giant wild red deer.

Scottish deerhound family-friendly dog has the heart of a hunter (a deer hunter, to be exact), but has an endearing quiet and dignified personality when in the home. Though you won’t have to worry about excessive barking, you will have to keep your pup reined in when it’s around scurrying furry critters.

SCOTTISH DEERHOUND DOG

The original purpose of Scottish Deerhound dog was to hunt and bring down the Scottish roe deer, a magnificent beast twice or more their size. The dog has a body like that of a Greyhound but is of larger size and bone, enabling them to run at great speed using the double-suspension gallop without sacrificing strength and also endurance.
